You’re driving along as normal and need to come to a gentle stop, but lightly tapping the brakes isn’t working anymore. You have to slam the whole pedal into the ground to get your car to stop at all. That’s one of several signs that you need to visit your Porsche dealer for brake service ASAP.

6 Signs Your Porsche Needs Brake Service from Your Porsche Dealer

1. Squealing Noises

Brakes make squealing noises when the brake pads need to be replaced. You should always have at least 1/4 of an inch of brake pad to drive safely, but when the pad gets too thin, metal brake pad wear indicators become uncovered. These scratch against your rotors to make that squealing noise when your brakes are used, and that sound tells you to visit the dealer to replace your brake pads at once.

2. Under-Responsive Brakes

As we mentioned earlier, brakes can become under-responsive when something is wrong. It may just take a few seconds longer to stop after you hit the brake pedal, or the brake pedal might sink right to the floor with no resistance. Usually, under-responsive brakes indicate a brake fluid leak or an air leak in the braking system.

3. Pulling Car

Your car might pull to the side when you use the brake pedal and there’s something wrong. You might have debris in your brake fluid, or the brake linings may be wearing down unevenly. These problems can be fixed by either getting a brake adjustment or having the brake fluid replaced at the dealer.

4. Vibrating Brake Pedal or Steering Wheel

If your rotors are warped, then your brake pedal, and possibly the steering wheel, may vibrate when the brakes are used. This issue can also happen when your brakes are out of alignment. You shouldn’t attempt to drive in stop-and-go traffic when you’re having this issue, as your brakes may overheat. Try to head to the dealer during a time when there isn’t much traffic on the way.

5. Grinding Noises

If your brakes sound like they’re grinding or groaning when used, then your brake pads have probably worn down so much that it’s damaging your rotors. You might need to have your rotors replaced or have the surfaces evened out.

6. Warning Light

Modern cars have a brake warning light to let you know when there’s something wrong with your braking system. If this light illuminates on your dash, then visit the dealer as soon as you can.
